ABOUT ME
I'm Sue, crazy cat lady with a passion for horses, big cats
and any other animals! I mainly photograph equestrian events but also
offer photoshoots and the odd bit of commercial photography.
I fell into photography accidentally about 10-15 years ago when
attending the SEIB Search For a Star qualifiers as part of my other job working
for SEIB. We didn't have a photographer there but I had a point and
shoot so took some photos, from there I got curious about how to take better
photos. Any equestrian photographer will tell you that indoor arenas are not
always easy to shoot as they are quite often poorly lit so it was a very steep
learning curve.
I'm basically self taught
but attended workshops, spent many hours studying various tutorials and books
and gradually upgraded my kit, I'm a Nikon girl if anyone is curious. First
DSLR I picked up was Nikon and I have stayed with the brand, currently shooting
with Nikon Z9, D6 and D5.
I am the official photographer for Silver Leys Equestrian Events, SEIB
Search For a Star competitions and also regularly shoot at Brook Farm
Equestrian Centre and Writtle University Campus.
Whilst I no longer ride (I don't have time!) I still get my
equine "fix" at weekends when covering events. It's great to
have seen so many riders and horses progress from nervous novices to the more
advanced levels and to be able to see their grins of delight when they get that
red rosette!
